Planning out what needs to be done each day can help with time management and organization

- list assignments based on level of importance (most important at top)
- put a star next to harder assignments; find a good time to complete these (i.e. beginning of day when brain in fresh or at a time when help is available)
Cotton Ball Reward system
Child gets a cotton ball in the jar for:
- Sitting down and getting started on their work quickly
- Completing parts of an assignment
- Getting started again quickly after a break
- Working hard through difficult tasks
- Game/movie night
- Special treat/snack
- Walk or time outside
- Later bed time
- Extra screen time
- Use a rubber band or tape to mark a ‘fill line’
- Don’t have cotton balls? Use crumpled paper, marbles, beads, etc.
- Do not take away cotton balls
- Reward should be given the same day the jar is filled
- Start off being generous with giving cotton balls to draw them in—slowly pull back on how often you give a cotton ball
